Artistic Pursuits Curriculum

This complete introduction and overview of art designed for home study, is excellent, and easy to teach without a lot of teacher preparation. A comprehensive approach to art education in 3 levels - each level covering the elements of art (space, line, shape, texture, value, form) and composition in one book, color and more composition in the second book. Art appreciation examples and inspirational comments run throughout. The emphasis is on the creative process rather than copying someone else's work, and teaching students to see and observe in new ways. Each book uses pen, charcoal, watercolor, etc. and the 3 levels focus on American, international, and European Art, respectively. Art prints of great works are included that students paste into the books after studying important aspects of each work. Highly recommended!
